Shadow Box Frames

Not to be confused with the shadowbox frames created to hold treasured objects (which we can also help you out with!), shadow box framing or framing with spacers is a beautiful way to display mounted photography in a contemporary manner. One function of matting is to keep the glass from touching the artwork in a frame, but in this method matboards are not necessary because the spacers keep the glass away from the artwork. If you are looking for a matted look but want spacers, you can tip the artwork onto the matboard using it as a background, or you may consider leaving some white space around your photo. This second method is very popular in the fine art photography industry. The spacers add an appealing visual variation to your typical straight into a frame option.
